Oak Hill, WV

On Thursday, July 18, 2024, Barbara Mae Gray, 74, of Oak Hill, WV passed from this earth to her eternal life in Heaven, while surrounded by her loving family.   Barbara was born to the late Ira Adkins and Dorothy Tate Havens on October 19, 1949, in Beckley, WV.   She served the Lord since the age of 9 years old, was filled with the precious Holy Ghost at the age of 12, and was a wonderful Christian role model to her children, family, and the community. She served as a strong Pastor’s wife, at the Christian Revival Center, for over 16 years. She was devoted to her church and loved her church family very much.   Barbara, lovingly referred to as “Nana”, was a huge instrument in Covenant Promise Christian Academy. She put her all into the school and the students, and loved each and every one of them.  Barbara was known as “The Tax Lady” at H&R Block in Smithers, WV, where she faithfully served her clients (many of whom she dearly loved) for nearly 30 years. She had formed bonds with many of her co-workers, that she loved like family.   She was preceded in death by her parents, Ira Adkins and Dorothy Tate Haves; her sisters, Katey Eller and Deborah Fridley; and her brother, David Havens.   She leaves behind her loving husband of 58 years, Leroy Gray; a son, Brian, and wife Mary Gray; daughters, Rebecca Bennett, Elisabeth and Christopher Blankenship, Aletheia and John Coleman; 17 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. Also surviving; sisters, Irelene Settle of Salem, VA, and Drema Price of Charlton Heights, WV; numerous nieces and nephews, and many friends who were like family to her.   Services will be held at 2 PM on Tuesday, July 23, 2024, at High Lawn Funeral Home located at 1435 E. Main Street Oak Hill, WV, with Pastor Ronnie Hall officiating. Interment will follow in High Lawn Memorial Park.  Friends may visit with the family from 1 PM until the time of service on Tuesday, July 23, 2024, at High Lawn Funeral Home in Oak Hill, WV.  Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.highlawnfuneralhome.com
