CARLETTA JEAN PROFFITT

Carletta Jean Short Proffitt, 82, of Oak Hill, West Virginia, passed away peacefully on November 11, 2024, after a very long journey with multiple health issues. Up until the end, Carletta maintained her kindness, grace, compassion, appreciation of beauty, love of family and friends, and expressed gratitude for her long life, full of wonderful and vast experiences. Carletta loved her tax clients, she was the sole owner of Plateau Business in Oak Hill, West Virginia for 50 years. On multiple occasions, she didn’t express her clients as clients, but said they were family. Carletta was preceded in death by her husband of 38 years, Roy; her parents, Carl and Opal Short of Oak Hill; her grandparents, Hernetta and John Perkins; and her cats, Angel and Tutti. Left to cherish her memory are her beloved daughters and step-children, Jean Michelle Treadway (Randall Shultz), Christina Greenwald (George), Mary Rothwell, Meg Adkins, and Michael Proffitt; grandchildren, Thomas Shepherd, Heather Shepherd, Christopher Lanham, Dustin Davis, Sarah Willis, Bubba Rothwell, Samantha Proffitt, and Katie Adkins; great-grandchildren, Bentley and Jordan, and 8 more great-grandchildren; a special daughter, Jasmine; and several other family and friends. Services will be held at 1:00 PM, Friday, November 15, 2024, at High Lawn Funeral Home with Pastor Barry Stone officiating. Interment will follow in High Lawn Memorial Park.
