Elizabeth Anne Shibley Basham “Betty”, 85 years old of Oak Hill, West Virginia, passed away running into the arms of Jesus at the Bowers Hospice House in Beckley, West Virginia, on July 15, 2024 at 9:06 AM. Betty was born December 22, 1938 in Washington, DC to Thomas Wayne Shibley “Father” and Helen Magill Johnston Shibley “Mother”. Betty was working at a Lithograph place, printing forms for the government when she met Richard. And they were also co-owners/operators of Basham’s Salvage Yard, and worked at Noyes Men’s & Boys Store, The Cookie Factory, and Walmart Department Store. Betty was a long-time member of Mossy Living Word Church where she wore many hats in service of her Lord and Savior, and she was the oldest mother on Mother’s Day. She Loved Teaching Sunday School, and the youth on Wednesday Nights. Betty Loved going on church trips with the kids and reading her bible. She loved shopping for everyone and especially finding that bargain. Betty Loved doing Yarn Stitching, playing Solitaire, and card games with family & friends and she had a large selection of Dolls, Purses, and don’t forget those shoes. Richard & Betty celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary on June 18, 2024. Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas Wayne Shibley and Helen Magill Johnston Shibley, a grandmother, Helen Shibley (Darney); her in-laws, Carl & Almedia Basham; Charles Basham “Brother N Law”; and David & Jenny Basham . Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, Richard Arlen Basham Sr.; sons, Richard Arlen Basham Jr. (Sheila), Stephen Michael Basham (Vickie), Robert Allen Basham (Lisa), and Roger Emmett Basham; grandchildren, Stephen Michael Basham II (Amanda), Stephanie Michelle Basham Yates (Bryan), Richard Arlen Basham III (Logan), Wesley S Basham, Chelsea Marie Basham Icard (Darin), and Michael A Basham; great-grandchildren, Audrey Michelle Yates, Michael Basham, Griffin Icard, Brynn Everly Yates, Lincoln Basham, Sullivan Icard, Judah Michael Yates, and Jennifer Basham; a brother, Robert Shibley; sisters, Mary Helen & Meryl Adkins; 6 nieces; 1 nephew; and several cousins. Betty is a beloved Daughter, Sister, Mom, Grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. You are Greatly Missed. Your smile will live forever in our hearts and minds. Until We Meet Again!!! Graveside Services will be held at High Lawn Memorial Park, 1435 E. Main St. Oak Hill, West Virginia on August 10, 2024, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM with Brother Paul Basham Officiating with a Celebration of Life following at Mossy Living Word Church, 790 Okey L Patterson Road, Mossy, West Virginia from 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM. Flowers can be delivered to High Lawn Funeral Home Oak Hill, West Virginia.
