Elizabeth Marguette Thorne

Elizabeth Marguette Thorne, 95, of Oak Hill, passed away on Tuesday, January 9, 2024 at Rainelle Healthcare Center.

Born February 9, 1928, at Gatewood, she was the daughter of the late Oscar and Lydia Elizabeth (Talbert) Butler.

Elizabeth married the love of her life, Paul Thorne on May 30, 1947 and they were married for 72 years. She retired from West Liberty State College and was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by her husband, Paul Thorne; stillborn daughter, Ruth Ann Thorne; and five brothers, Charles, John, Harry, Clarence, and Ernest Butler.

She was the beloved mother to Judy Kuhn and her partner, Roger of Florida and Jimmy Thorne and his wife, Claudette of Belington; five grandchildren, Jason and Daniel Thompson, Craig, Mike, Jade Thorne Meagher and Tim , Izak and Cash Thorne; three great grandchildren, Chace, Sara, and Christian; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Services will be 2:00 P.M., Friday, January 12, 2024 at Tyree Funeral Home Chapel, Oak Hill with Pastor Benny Bleigh officiating. Burial will be at a later date.

Friends may call from 1:00 P.M. until time of service Friday at Tyree Funeral Home, Oak Hill.

Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
