FRED JAMES McLAIN III

Fred James McLain, III (Jamie), 51, of Oak Hill, West Virginia.  Surrounded by his loving family, Jamie departed as the sun set on Saturday, July 13, 2024.   The son of Fred James and Sharlene Pack McLain, Jr, Jamie grew up in Mount Hope, WV. He graduated from Mount Hope High School Class of 1990 where he was a proud member of the 1989 State Championship Football Team. He was a Proud Marshall University graduate, he was loyal to Thundering Herd athletics year-round.  Jamie was a hard worker providing for his family even during his illness. More than 18 years at Tractor Supply Company not only brought home a paycheck but an excess of friendships and good memories from coworkers and customers. Jamie was a member of Mount Hope Christian Church. He loved sports- Cincinnati Reds, Cleveland Browns, and Marshall University but his favorites were when his children were playing, singing, or dancing. Ultimately his top priority and happiness was his children; Alexis Cayden Harper (Dylan), Fayetteville, NC, Fred Jayden McLain, Oak Hill, WV, Bronson Luke McLain, Erin Elizabeth McLain, and Adeline Reda Marie McLain.   Jamie was preceded in death by his grandparents Fred J. and Elvira Diodoardo McLain Sr. and James D. and Marie Daniel Pack.  In addition to his children, others left to cherish his memory, his wife of almost 15 years, Phoebe (Buchanan) McLain; his loving parents, Fred and Sharlene McLain; a sister, Allyson McLain; uncles, Don (Dominick) McLain, and Michael Wyco (Daisy), SC; aunts, Mary Ann "Mimi" Carr(Mike), Debby Haring (Dave), PA, and Pam Pack Legg (Billy), NC; Father & Mother-in-law Henry Buchanan & Toni Lea Buchanan; memorable cousins, Marcus Dorado, Gary Dillon II, and a further host of cousins; a brother and sister-in-law; 3 nieces; 4 nephews; and a host of friends, church family and work family.   Graveside Services will be held at 2:00 PM, Thursday, July 18, 2024, at High Lawn Memorial Park in Oak Hill, WV with Pastor Roy Seaux officiating.  Friends may call on the family from 12:00 PM until 1:45 PM, Thursday, July 18, 2024, at High Lawn Funeral Home Chapel in Oak Hill, WV.  Pallbearers will be Jayden and Bronson McLain, John Grim, Chris Vanfossen, Amanda Runion, and Michael Wyco. Honorary and Assisting: Marcus Dorado, Dylan Harper and Matt Rider.
