Glenda Sue King passed away surrounded by family on Wednesday January 11, 2023, at the age of 67, in Charlotte, North Carolina. She is survived by her six siblings, Brenda Kay Eckert, William (Billy) Allen Dabler, Paul Frederick Dabler Jr., Tammy Lynn Steele, Frank Dabler, and Michael Ryan Dabler; three children, Tonya Hobbs and Chris Hobbs (son-in-law) of Waxhaw, NC, Rebecca Ann Koch (Redneck Beck) of Victor, WV, and Tommy King Jr. of Greenbelt, MD; five (5) grandchildren Zachary and Brooke (fiance’) King, Keila Idalia Megan King, Mateo Emilio Christian King, Tex Monroe Koch III, Zakai Stone, and a host of many great grandchildren, family and friends.Glenda was born in Gauley Bridge, West Virginia. She was the oldest of seven children born to her mother, Lois, and her father, Paul Dabler. She leaves behind her faithful companion, Baby, the sweet, protective, and beautiful German Shepherd. Glenda lived and spent time in Maryland, North Carolina, West Virginia, Tennessee, and Colorado, and made friends everywhere she went.Glenda was sustained in her faith in Jesus Christ and in times of need was supported by the River Church Family in Southern Maryland. Her friends and family are very grateful for the love, support, and prayers of Pastor Breon and his wife, Jeri, and, of course, Pastor Joe.Glenda loved bowling, trivia, Nascar & Tony Stewart, NHL & The Caps, and NFL & The Panthers. She loved Freddie Mercury and Queen, and especially the movie Bohemian Rhapsody. She also loved helping others, traveling, taking cruises, and spending time with family and friends. She especially enjoyed attending family reunions.Glenda’s gifts and presents were legendary, creative, and involved great thought, efforts, and talents of her sewing craftsmanship. Glenda had a way of making everyone feel special.Glenda was also a thoughtful and dedicated poet. Her poems brought joy, smiles, and comfort to those she honored and memorialized.Glenda would like to be remembered as, “The Giraffe Lady.” Her giraffe collection, love and enthusiasm for all things Giraffe related were unparalleled. When visiting giraffes, she often knew more about giraffes than the wildlife park caregivers which amused and delighted so many of the other visitors.Glenda had two very close and special friends, Diana Manning and Kelly St Clair, who supported and loved her as their own sister.The family would like to express a special thanks to Linda Williams who provided tremendous help and support to Glenda as she underwent cancer treatment. It was through Linda that Glenda became a member of The River Church which meant so much to her.Her family is having a private Celebration of Life. She will be interred next to her mother in Section D, Lot 440, Grave Number 3 at Highlawn Memorial Park, 1435 E. Main Street, Oak Hill, West Virginia 25901. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Glenda's memory be made to the Giraffe Conservation Foundation, 17 S. Magnolia Ave., Orlando, FL 32801; and The River Church of Southern Maryland, PO Box 707, Bryantown, MD 20617. Holland Funeral Service is serving the King Family. Hide
