Raymond Dale Lokant

Raymond D. "Pete" Lokant, 70, passed away on Monday, January 20th 2025 after a sudden battle with esophageal cancer, demonstrating unwavering faith in Jesus Christ. Services will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, January 25th 2025 at Tyree Funeral Home in Oak Hill, WV. Visitation for friends will be from 12:00 PM until 2:00 PM at the funeral home in Oak Hill.

A long-time Oak Hill resident, Pete later made Beckley his home. He was the son of Raymond and Helen "Joyce" Lokant, beloved by his brother David (Lori) Lokant and sisters Debbie (John) Garvin, Becky (Mike) Perdue, and Jennie (Connie Mack) Simms.

Pete earned degrees in Business and Special Education – and later a Masters in Theology. He held a bi-vocational career as a teacher and minister and influenced countless students at Oak Hill High School, where he also coached football and worked heavily with the Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA). Throughout the years, Pete served as youth pastor at Oak Hill Baptist Church and pastor at Fellowship Memorial Baptist Church and Faith Fellowship Church.

Pete was a devoted husband to Carla Ballard, father to Leah (Jereme) Evans, Jeff Lokant, Michael Lokant, and Joey Lokant (fiancée Teresa Pockl), a proud grandfather to Ashton and Ty Evans, and brother-in-law to Tommy (Jennifer) Ballard. His legacy of service, leadership, and love for family, community, and faith will continue to inspire all who knew him.
