Richard Wayne Howard

Richard Wayne Howard, of Oak Hill, WV passed away peacefully on Tuesday April 15th, 2025.

Richard (Rick), age 55, was born on August 20th, 1969 in Hammond, IN and was a proud Marine Corp. veteran of the Gulf War. Rick was a husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, nephew, and cousin to a legacy of loved ones left behind.

Preceded in death by his father, Dewain Howard, of Martinsburg, WV.

Survived by his mother, Gwendolyn Howard, of Martinsburg, WV; wife, Janice Howard of Oak Hill, WV; daughter, Brittany Howard of Ontario, OH; son, Austin Howard (Tiffany) of Ontario, OH; and a daughter, Molly Howard (Joe) of Clearwater, FL. Also survived by his brother, Christopher Howard of Louisville, KY; a sister, Brianna Howard of Quincy, MA; his Aunts, Rebecca Greenaway of Hinton, WV, Joetta Reeder (George) of Pinellas Park, FL; and Uncle John Cincinnati of Martinsburg, WV. Rick was blessed with the following grandchildren as well: Arianna, Bronxton, Caegan, Kensington, and Daniel. He was a loving uncle to Catie, Charlie, Mason, Tucker, and Holden.

Rick loved his country and served proudly as a Marine. He spent his childhood summers in Upper Arlington, OH where he befriended many. He was a talented athlete and enjoyed playing football and basketball as a teenager. As a young adult, he spent the summers with loved ones in Temagami, Canada where he blossomed and grew to love the outdoors. He cherished time on the beach in Florida and with his family in West Virginia, particularly his grandmother Nancy Lightner of Hinton, WV. He is loved by so many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. He will be loved and missed forever.

Services for Rick will be held at High Lawn Funeral Home, in Oak Hill, WV on Friday April 18th at 3:00pm.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the “Veterans Association of America, Inc.”.
