Richard Aaron Murdock Sr., 91, of Oak Hill, WV, passed away at home on Saturday, June 10, 2023. He was born March 25, 1932, in Scarbro, WV, to Wellington Ray Murdock Sr. and Elizabeth Honaker Murdock.
Richard grew up on the Collins farm, where his parents were caretakers, and attended Oak Hill High School. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict and came home as a Sergeant. He was also the founder of Rooster’s Hydraulic Service, where until most recently, he had worked side by side with his son and grandson. Richard was a member of the Oak Hill Lions Club and had served his home church, the First Presbyterian Church of Oak Hill, as both a Deacon and Elder.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 67 years, Mary Ann Murdock, and brothers W. Ray Murdock Jr. and James A. Murdock Sr.
Those left to cherish his memory include his son Richard A. “Rooster” Murdock Jr., his wife, Diana, grandson Richard “Aaron” Murdock III and his wife, Carrie; Dr. Brandon Murdock and his wife, Dr. My Linh Vu Murdock and great-grandson, Richard A. Murdock IV.
