Zane Farley Self, 83 passed away Sunday, November 10, 2024, at his home surrounded by his loving family. Zane was born on November 17th, 1940, in Charleston WV to William Reed Self and Ruth Adeline Self (Wood). Zane and his late wife Evelyn had 55 years of blissful matrimony and 5 Children; Daniel Patrick Self, Timothy Mark Self (Tammy), Michael Philip Self (Dawn), Sarah Jane Self Sloan (Robert), and Rebecca Susan Self. Zane was blessed with 15 grandchildren; Jonathan Self (Patty), Laura Beth Self, Stephanie Key Stropoli (Matt), Miranda Boston (Caleb), Michael Self (Malia), Amanda Hypes (Jeremy), Brittany Pennington (Noah), Joseph Sloan, Keith Sloan, Brooklyn Sloan, Brianna Sloan, Melissa Riner(Jahden), John Lewis(Casey), Tiffany Humphrey(Roger), Krisitin Thompson(Aaron). Zane had 16 great-grandchildren; Luke Lewis, Lacey Lewis, Macie Riner, Dawson Pennington, Lee Thomas Pennington, Layla Beth Hypes, Kayden Key Stropoli, Everleigh Key Stropoli, Knox Key Stropoli, Arabella Humphrey, Karston Boston, Avery Boston, Evelyn Self, Chloe Self, Daniel Self and Felicity Self. Zane was a devout Christian, and his loving care and wisdom were a constant guide for all of his immediate family, nieces, nephews, and many others throughout the years. Throughout the years, his home was always open as life circumstances allowed him to help raise 2 nephews and 1 niece for several years; Shawn Patrick McKinney (deceased), Ginger Marie McKinney, and George Dewey McKinney III. He was a life-long minister, and a member of the Christian Church / Church of Christ and a member of Mount Hope Christian Church, Oak Hill Christian Church, and most recently a member of the Oak Hill Church of Christ. Special thanks to Central WV Aging Services for providing excellent caregiving services and for his amazing caregiver, Don Zemonek. Visitation will be held Thursday, November 14, 2024, at 1:00 pm at High Lawn Funeral Home with services at 2:00 pm at High Lawn Memorial Park, officiated by minister John Scott. Services will be followed by a celebration of his life at New River Convention Center, Oak Hill, WV, at 3:00 pm.
